Motorola has announced through Twitter that the Moto X Pure Edition, the phone maker’s latest flagship device for 2015, will arrive in the United States this coming September 3rd of this year. The American mobile manufacturer has since deleted its tweet, but not before several industry watchers have viewed it (here is a screenshot courtesy of Droid Life).
Before this announcement, Motorola had previously only hinted that the Moto X Pure Edition was coming in September of 2015. Because of the lack of a definite launch date, many a Motorola fan were a bit worried that the smartphone may never make its way to US stores in time. But now that Motorola itself has made the announcement, interested buyers now can mark their calendars.
Also referred to as the Moto X Style in smartphone markets outside of the US, the Moto X Pure Edition is basically the third generation version of Motorola’s Moto X device. The handset comes with a 5.7 inch QHD LCD display screen, complemented with a 21 megapixel camera on the rear side and a 5 megapixel camera on the front side.
As far as hardware specifications go, the Moto X Pure Edition features a 1.8 GigaHertz Snapdragon 808 processor with hexa core central processing unit (MSM8992) and Adreno 418 graphics processing unit. The device also comes with 3 gigabytes of random access memory (RAM), plus options for internal storage in 16 gigabytes, 32 gigabytes, and 64 gigabytes. Memory can be expanded via a micro SD card slot that can support up to 128 gigabytes of additional storage space. The smartphone also possesses a 3,000 mAh battery, with TurboPower for up to 10 hours from just 15 minutes of charging. Software wise, it runs on the Android Lollipop mobile operating system.
As expected of any Motorola flagship device, the Moto X Pure Edition is customizable via Moto Maker. Customers can choose from leather and natural rear casings, and other finishes.
The Moto X Pure Edition will start at $399 and will be offered fully unlocked, with support on all major wireless carriers in the US (Verizon Wireless, AT&T, T-Mobile, and Sprint). It should be noted though that this handset will not be sold via wireless carriers, but will only be made available via Motorola’s own website, Best Buy, and Amazon.
