Less than a week after OnePlus officially revealed that its next flagship device offering will be making its debut this coming June 20th, two leaked photos surfaced in the world wide web, thanks to Android Police and Slashleaks. If the leaked images are to be believed, it appears that the upcoming OnePlus 5 will come with a couple of cameras on its rear side, as well as a LED flash, antenna bands, and a gray color. Unavoidably, some of the reaction centered around how the OnePlus 5 seems to resemble Apple’s iPhone 7 Plus.
In response, OnePlus has gone ahead and posted a tweet via social media, specifically an image that comes with the caption: “A continuous hard edge, refined over 3 years.” The image does suggest a rather unique side outline, along with curved edges and corners that appear to be the norm for high end devices these days.
Similarities with one of the latest iPhone models notwithstanding, many are still looking forward to the release of the OnePlus 5, especially with regards to how the latest from OnePlus delivers on the goods. Past OnePlus devices have quite impressed both tech experts and casual consumers alike, not only in terms of specifications and performance, but also in how competitive the pricing is.
Based so far on what OnePlus itself has revealed in its own forums web page, the OnePlus 5 will pack Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 835 chip, which should promise high quality processing performance. Leaker extraordinaire Evan Blass has also tweeted recently that the soon to be announced OnePlus 5 will feature a truly generous 8 gigabytes of random access memory (RAM). Blass stumbled upon this piece of information by way of Amazon’s India website. As for the dual camera configuration, the talk is that the set up will be further aided by input from DxO, the France based company that specializes in photography software. Fans of the OnePlus lineup of smartphones are also hoping that the phone maker this time will introduce a new color option.
As mentioned earlier, the device is set to make its debut this coming June 20th. The formal unveiling will supposedly be done via an online keynote. After the official introduction, the handset will then be made available on OnePlus’s official website. To promote the new flagship, the company is planning to conduct pop up events in various locations around the world, as they have done in previous years in releasing past OnePlus devices.
