Today Palm introduced the Pixi, bringing the webOS family to a grand total of two. The playfully named Pixi, effectively a smaller and less expensive version of the more premium Palm Pre, adopts a thin candy bar form factor and will sport personalization options and features purportedly targeted at a younger generation.
Pixi users will be able to choose from a set of "limited edition" rubberized back covers to fit their style. The Pixi will also feature enhanced Facebook integration, allowing users to easily update their status and comment on friend's activities. The smartphone will also add Yahoo! and LinkedIn integration.
In a step down from the Pre, the Pixi will lack WiFi, have a smaller multi-touch screen, and only a 2-megapixel camera. Despite these downgrades, the Pixi will support EVDO Rev and have 8GB of internal memory, GPS, full email support, and a 3.55mm headphone jack.
Pricing has not yet been set, but the Pixi is expected to be available on Sprint's network in time for the holiday season.
