After holding its first ever special in-game Halloween event, Pokemon Go saw its revenues improve 2.3 times compared to the previous week’s numbers, according to data by analytics firm SensorTower. Moreover, the mobile game’s daily revenues were its best ever since September 10th, according to App Annie’s numbers.
For those who missed Pokemon Go’s Halloween event, it was held between October 26th to November 1st, and resulted to higher catch rates for a certain number of Pokemon, especially those associated with Halloween, including Gastly, Meowth, and Zubat. On top of that, the Halloween event also had the effect of producing better pay out rates for candy earned from capturing, transporting Pokemon to the professor, and walking with one’s preferred Pokemon buddy.
Between October 25th and October 29th, the Halloween event registered revenues of about $23.3 million overall and between October 18th and October 22nd, earned $10 million, per SensorTower’s report. And then according to App Annie, the phenomenally popular game also posted twice as much daily revenues on October 29th, compared to how much it earned back in October 24th.
What made this achievement so cool is that Niantic did not even need to introduce new features and improvements to Pokemon Go. Instead, what it did was boost the reward pay out, and let the players do the rest. Needless to say, the Niantic crew will be wanting to replicate this feat. Almost certainly, the game maker will be looking to hold another similar event during the busy holiday shopping season.
Meanwhile, Niantic has launched a new bonus scheme for Pokemon Go players. For the upcoming update to the game, players will be able to accumulate more XP, items, and Stardust if they capture a Pokemon or pay a visit to a PokeStop every day. For the first catch of the day, players will get 500 XP and 600 Stardust. For those who can keep their catch streak alive for seven days straight, they get a four fold bonus of 2,000 XP and 2,400 Stardust. With regards to daily visits to PokeStops, trainers will earn 500 XP and bonus items on their first visit. Seven straight days of visits will earn them 2,000 XP and even more items. It bears noting that the bonuses refresh every midnight local time. For example, if a user captures a Pokemon at four o’clock in the afternoon today, he should become qualified for the next daily bonus after midnight later.
