A little more than a month ago, we reported about the possibility of Samsung’s Galaxy S8 Active coming to other mobile operators, too -- that is, apart from being an exclusive of AT&T. Well, this time around the South Korean tech giant has officially announced that the rugged version of its Galaxy S8 flagship offering is indeed coming to a couple of other wireless carriers, namely T-Mobile and Sprint.
The Galaxy S8 Active will start to be made available online from T-Mobile this coming November 17th. Five days later, the device will be hitting select outlets of the carrier at a price of $820 (zero contract). For good measure, the third biggest wireless service provider in the United States is also throwing in a sweepstakes promo, wherein the lucky winner could earn an adventure trip for two (awarded as a credit, to include air fare). The promo will run until November 16th, and interested parties can check out the official rules through this link.
As for Sprint, the company is yet to publish details with regards to the pricing and availability of its Galaxy S8 Active, but we should be able to hear from the mobile operator pretty soon. Whereas AT&T offers the Galaxy S8 Active in titanium gold, both T-Mobile and Sprint will be selling the device in meteor gray.
In other related news, another high profile, previously carrier exclusive Android powered flagship device is also making its way to T-Mobile’s store shelves. Less than a month ago, LG’s V30 Plus had launched as a Sprint exclusive, but it turns out that the phablet will also be launching on T-Mobile starting on November 17th.
Somewhat like the Galaxy S8 Active is to the Galaxy S8, the V30 Plus is an upgraded variant of the V30, the second flagship device that LG had released this year (after the G6). Thus, the V30 Plus sports twice as much storage capacity (at 129 gigabytes of memory), and also offers a more improved sound quality and video watching experience. The enhanced audio is made possible by way of a Hi-Fi Quad DAC (digital to analog converter) that manages to create a much better overall sound. In terms of video, the V30 Plus comes with digital filters that allow mobile users to better manage the pre- and the post-ringing of the impulse response music. On top of that, the phablet also happens to ship with LG’s QuadPlay earbuds, which take full advantage of Quad Layer Speaker tech in producing better than the usual audio.
