Samsung recently announced that the Samsung Galaxy Alpha will be coming to AT&T beginning on September 26th of this year. The device will be exclusively available on the carrier's online store and in its retail stores.
As of now, customers can choose from three different colors: Dazzling White, Charcoal Black, and Frosted Gold. The hotly anticipated phone is expected to sell at various prices, depending on which AT&T plan the customer selects.
Buyers can go for the regular two-year contract, which means they will pay $200.00. Or they can opt for the carrier's Next18 installment plan. With this option, they will need to shell out $25.55 every month. As for the Next12 plan, monthly payments will go up to $30.65. Of course, customers can always choose the no-agreement option, although they will have to pay the full retail price of $613.00.
The Samsung Galaxy Alpha is considered to be the first of future metal-clad smartphones by the South Korean mobile manufacturer. Because of its sleek and thin design, Samsung is positioning the device as a high-end smartphone for buyers who prefer some class and luxury in their handsets.
Of course, the Galaxy Alpha delivers more than just its looks. It is equipped with a 4.7-inch HD Super AMOLED 1280 by 720 resolution display screen, and comes with a 12-megapixel rear camera and a 2.1-megapixel front-facing camera. The phone also features real-time high-dynamic range (HDR), which allows users to rapidly take multiple shots at different exposure levels, providing the user with lots of options for the best shot. On top of that, the Galaxy Alpha features selective focus and offers options for taking panoramic shots.
When it comes to hardware specs, the Galaxy Alpha does not disappoint. The device packs a 2.5 GigaHertz quad-core processor, and offers 32 gigabytes of internal storage. It also features the revolutionary Exynos 5430 chip, the first of its kind to incorporate a 20 nanometer process, which promises improved performance especially when powering high-resolution displays such as WQHD (Wide Quad HD) and WQXGA (Wide XGA).
Its other features also include Ultra-Power Saving Mode, S Health, Finger Print Scanner, Private Mode as well as easy connectivity with Samsung's Gear Fit, Gear Live and Gear 2 wearables.
With the Samsung Galaxy Alpha smartphone now coming to a major American carrier, it should compete head to head with Apple's recently launched iPhone 6, which incidentally also features a 4.7-inch display screen.
