When Apple launched the jet black color for its iPhone 7 series, it introduced the market to a series of really black color smartphones. Shortly after the device was released, the color option quickly sold out -- proving that there is indeed a market interested in a shiny black phone. It did not take long for other smartphone manufacturers to follow suit and come up with their own model. Case in point is Samsung's Galaxy S7 Edge, which they recently reintroduced with a new color option called "black pearl."
News about the new black option for the Galaxy S7 Edge first broke online after photos of a familiar device emerged on Weibo, a Chinese chat app. The device looked eerily like the Galaxy S7 Edge, which has already been released to the market early this year. But because the photos showed a glossy black cover, there were many who could not confirm whether it was actually the real thing.
Fortunately, Samsung has decided to come clean about the mysterious device and has actually made it official. Speaking to the public, the South Korean manufacturer has announced the availability of the black pearl color option for the Galaxy S7 Edge. However, the glossy black option is only available with the 128 gigabyte version of the device. Additionally, Samsung plans to release the color starting December 9th. There's no word though on which countries will carry the black pearl color option.
Black pearl is not the only color option Samsung has recently made available for the Galaxy S7 Edge. As a matter of fact, they have released a coral blue color option for the said device. If you can remember, this is a color option that was originally available for the short lived Galaxy Note 7. Samsung initially thought the Galaxy Note 7 would be their premium flagship device for the holidays, especially since it came with really amazing top of the line specs that seemed to carry everything that was missing from other devices.
But ever since the Galaxy Note 7 became too controversial, the manufacturer lost hope in the model and decided to completely take it off the market. The ill fated device has also caused the company irreparable damage, one that would definitely leave a mark for the brand in the years to come. And even as the company works hard to be better with its upcoming Galaxy S8 device, many are hopeful that Samsung can completely recover from their losses and regain their customers' trust once again.
For now, the company is turning to the Galaxy S7 Edge as its premium flagship smartphone offering for the holiday season. By adding the coral blue and black pearl color options, they are positive that these could boost their year end sales.
