Those who were excited about this particular Samsung offering were obviously wondering when and where they will be able to get a Galaxy Note Edge of their own. But it appears that the device may be more difficult to purchase than thought before. As quoted in ZDNet Korea, Samsung Electronics President D J Lee stated that the smartphone will be deployed as a "limited concept" product, as opposed to a mass-produced handset like the Samsung Galaxy Note 4.
When the Galaxy Note Edge was first unveiled, early reports stated that the device will be offered by all four major carriers, namely AT&T, Sprint, T-Mobile, and Verizon Wireless sometime in fall of this year. But as noted by Lee, the handset will only be deployed in a few selected markets around the world. The roll out should commence sometime in October of this year, most likely initiating from South Korea, where Samsung is based.
As of now, there is no way of knowing for sure how limited the Galaxy Note Edge will be. Some reports are suggesting that the device may not be even available in most European countries. As for the United States market, the jury is truly still out on that one.
All things considered, it appears that Samsung is still active in promoting the Galaxy Note Edge. In light of the trending Bendgate fiasco, the company even playfully tweeted: "Curved. Not Bent." Score one for the South Korean phone maker.
As for Samsung fans -- well, they will have to accept the fact that only a limited number of users will be able to experience the device's unique, curved 5.6-inch display screen. The curving side that folds to the rear provides users with an extra 160 pixels of display, turning the Galaxy Note Edge's full resolution into 1600 by 2560, the highest resolution of any smartphone today.
Aside from its most distinguishing feature, the Galaxy Note Edge sports a Snapdragon 805 or Exynos 5433 chip, 16-megapixel OIS camera, and S Pen stylus. The device runs on Android 4.4.
