It was kind of awkward for some Snapchat users when its app essentially exposed who they snapped with most in the Best Friends list. However, the team behind Snapchat has since introduced a new private way in which users can determine which of their Snapchat friends are they closest to. The users themselves will be the only one who can view these new Friend Emojis on their screen of incoming snaps. Here is a guide to these newly introduced Friend Emojis on the Snapchat app:
Gold Heart (You're #1 Best Friends) -- The person the user sends snaps to most also sends snaps to the user most too
Grimace/Grit Teeth (You Have A Mutual #1 Best Friend) -- The person the user sends snaps to most is also who this person sends snaps to most
Smile (One Of Your Best Friends) -- This person is one of the people the user sends snaps to most
Sunglasses (You Have A Mutual Best Friend) -- One of the people the user sends snaps to most is also one of the people this person sends snaps to most
Smirk (You're The Best Friend But They're Not Yours) -- The user is one of the people that other users send snaps to most, but these other users are not one of the people that the user sends snaps to most
Fire (You Two Are On A Snapstreak) -- The user and this person have sent snaps back and forth for the number of consecutive days shown
Previously, users (and anyone with them in their contacts) can go to their Snapchat profile and see who that user sent snaps to most, and many thought that it was a bummer that they could not turn this thing off. Also, it felt awkward to see your real life best friend not on your Snapchat Best Friends list (and that friend uses Snapchat).
Aside from the new Friend Emojis, Snapchat also introduced two more new features. There is a Moon icon just above the camera, which allows users to turn on and off a low light mode for the camera. This should make Snapchat's camera more low light friendly and easier to use in night time events like parties and concerts.
Also, Snapchat has added something to remind users to send snaps to contacts they have not interacted in a while. When users select friends to send snaps to, they will see a Needs Love section under the Recents list (people the users have interacted with just recently). The people in the Needs Love section are people that users used to snap with a lot before, but haven't recently.
