The Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL have only been announced three weeks ago but it is already drawn mixed emotions from the crowd. For some, the Pixel 2 models are among Google’s best rated devices. These people believe that these two smartphones are equipped with some of the best features available in a device. Unfortunately, the same can not be said for a bunch of other people.
Just recently, the Pixel 2 XL drew flak among its users for the issues on its display. Many complained that the Pixel 2 XL showed a blue tint and exhibited dull colors. Some also pointed out that the display showed some noise. There was also at least one user who reported experiencing burn-in issues.
While these display issues are described as minor and not really something to be concerned with, there is yet another issue that has risen in connection with the Pixel 2 XL. On a Google Product forum, Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL users shared that they have encountered clicking noises and a high pitched sound emitted by their devices. Boy, Google is definitely not having a good week.
The report was picked up by Android Police, who noted that the clicking noise resembles the sound produced by the second hand of an analog watch. Users who complained about the issue noted that once they switch off NFC, the clicking sound would disappear too. As for the high pitched sound coming from their device, it does not seem to be a related issue with the clicking sound produced by the device. To date, no one knows what could be causing it and how it can be fixed.
Thankfully, Google is already staying on top of things by investigating the issue. Google has even responded to the forums and told its users to contact tech support so they can discuss RMA options. There was one user who said Google has agreed to send in a replacement unit and test it beforehand to ensure it does not come with the issue too.
Although it is pretty common to experience minor issues on a new phone, it is still recommended that you speak to a tech support at Google, especially if the issue is something that is bothering or worrying you. This way, you can get the help you need for your device and not have to worry that it will become another Galaxy Note 7.
