Sony has just unveiled two new smartphone offerings -- the Xperia C5 Ultra and the Xperia M5. And it appears that the Japanese tech giant is targeting the selfie loving mobile users with its latest Xperia handsets.
Both the Xperia C5 Utra and the Xperia M5 come with cameras of at least 13 megapixels on both their front side and rear side. That is something that most consumers today do not see often. Normally, phone makers introduce smartphones that feature a better camera on the rear side compared to the one on the front side. The reasoning behind this is that most mobile users typically take pictures of their surroundings. But with the increasing popularity of selfies and the emergence of the selfie generation, Sony is clearly thinking that it may be high time to offer a smartphone whose front side camera is as good as its rear side camera.
Take the new Xperia C5 Ultra, for instance -- Sony is positioning this handset as a PRO selfie smartphone. The device’s camera specifications certainly suggest so. Apart from its twin 13 megapixel camera on both the front side and the rear side, the handset is also equipped with a 6 inch full HD display screen that has a resolution of 1,920 by 1,080 pixels.
If that is not enough, the Xperia C5 Ultra also features a 1.7 GigaHertz eight core chip set, supported with 2 gigabytes of random access memory (RAM). The device also includes 4G network connectivity, an aluminum body, and a battery that can last for a couple of days on just a single charge.
As for the Xperia M5, Sony is billing it as a sort of an extraordinary midrange sibling of the Xperia C5 Ultra. It also comes with a 13 megapixel camera on the front side, but its rear side is fitted with a 21.5 megapixel camera that features a 5x clear image zoom function that allows users to capture really detailed closeup shots.
Cameras aside, the Xperia M5 possesses a 5 inch full HD display screen with a resolution of 1,920 by 1,080 pixels, a 2 GigaHertz MediaTek Helio X10 eight core chip set, 3 gigabyte of RAM, and a 2,600 mAh battery that provides two days worth of power.
According to Sony, the Xperia C5 Ultra and the Xperia M5 will be made available in selected regions, especially in emerging markets, before the end of this month.
