When the Sony Xperia Z3 was first officially unveiled last month in September, T-Mobile had confirmed that it would be offering the smartphone sometime in fall. After the unveiling, there has not been any solid news about the handset, but just recently, images of the T-Mobile-branded Xperia Z3 have surfaced.
Sony has posted said official images on its website, and it appears that the T-Mobile Xperia Z3, as expected, looks just like the international Xperia Z3, except of course for the 4G LTE logo in the status bar and the T-Mobile imprint on the lower side of the rear cover.
Based on the images, T-Mobile is going minimal with its branding for the Xperia Z3. It is not without precedent though. With the previous Xperia Z and Xperia Z1s, the carrier had decided not to be too loud, branding-wise. It certainly is a departure from what other carriers are doing with the smartphones they are offering.
Branding notwithstanding, subscribers of T-Mobile will soon get to experience for themselves what the Sony Xperia Z3 is really all about. The device sports a 5.2-inch full HD LED display screen (1080 resolution) housed in a durable round-edged aluminum steel body fitted with glass panels. It also equipped with a 20-megapixel rear camera and a 2.2-megapixel front-facing camera. Its hardware boasts a quad-core 2.5 GigaHertz Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 processor, 32 gigabytes of internal storage (a significant improvement over the international version which only offers 16 gigabytes of built-in memory), 3 gigabytes of random access memory (RAM), and a 3,100 mAh battery. The Xperia Z3 is 4G LTE-compatible and runs on Android 4.4 KitKat.
A major plus for buyers of the Xperia Z3 is its unparalleled waterproof quality. Its IP65 and IP68 certification gives the device one of the highest waterproof ratings of any smartphone today. Users can even use the handset when submerged in water at a depth of 1.5 meters for about thirty minutes.
It is highly likely that T-Mobile will not be the only carrier that will be pushing the Xperia Z3 this coming fall. Sony has scheduled a press conference event on Thursday, October 9th, and it is expected that the Japanese phone maker will be announcing some news regarding other carriers, which could include Verizon Wireless, among others.
As for T-Mobile subscribers, now that official images of the Xperia Z3 have appeared, the only thing left to do now is wait for the announcement of the date of launch, and then mark that date in their calendars and bide their time.
