It appears that Sprint has decided to resurrect a promotional deal that promises a whole year of unlimited service, free of charge, to customers who are willing to switch from a rival network and bring their own handset. This special offer is made available to users who already own any one of the listed eligible devices (from phone brands such as Samsung, Apple, and Motorola, just to name a few).
It was back in June of last year when Sprint had first launched its free year of unlimited service promo to those who switch to its network. And when the carrier said unlimited, it really meant unlimited -- with unlimited minutes of voice calls, unlimited number of text messages, and unlimited gigabytes of data -- all free for a period of twelve months. The original deal was supposed to expire at the end of June, but in the following July, Sprint would go on to extend the special offer for an additional month’s time.
Several industry watchers consider Sprint’s free year of unlimited service promotional deal as the most aggressive in the market at that time, and certainly one that would attract a lot of takers. It definitely did give a boost to the major US wireless carrier’s second quarter numbers last year. After introducing the special offer, the company was able to record its first quarterly profit in three years. And in the process, the mobile operator registered gains of 88,000 net postpaid customers.
Like the original version, the latest edition of Sprint’s promo is a limited time only deal, and as a matter of fact, the offer will expire by the end of this month. It goes without saying that for those who missed the fun last year, they now have an excellent opportunity to avail of the free year of unlimited service, either for themselves or with other people (the deal is open to individuals as well as families or groups).
It should be mentioned that those availing of the deal will have to buy a suitable SIM card, but they will no longer have to worry about paying for activation fees. The free year of unlimited service will end on January 31st of next year, which means that after that time, customers should expect their monthly billing to to reflect the regular pricing ($60 each month for the first line of service, $40 each month for the second line, and $30 each for the third, fourth, and fifth lines).
