According to Marcelo Claure, the chief executive officer of Sprint, the wireless carrier will likely continue offering its half off promos throughout the rest of the holiday season. It is quite obvious that the mobile operator’s half off deals are attracting some new sign ups, although sometimes it can be confusing. This is because each half off deal is specifically structured depending on each mobile user and the wireless carrier he is switching from. To illustrate, a T-Mobile customer who avails of the half off promo will likely get a different new Sprint plan compared to those who are defecting from Verizon Wireless or AT&T.
Still, Claure has expressed a desire to simplify the plans being offered together with the half off deals, even hinting that it is possible that the number of options will be streamlined to just a trio of plans. When it comes to simplification of plans, Sprint is hardly the only one doing it. Industry leaders Verizon Wireless and AT&T have proceeded to eliminating overage fees recently, although in the part of the Big Red, not all of its customers get to enjoy the total absence of overage charges. As for T-Mobile, it has significantly simplified its options by deciding to offer just one single unlimited plan -- T-Mobile One -- for new customers, although it has yet to do away with its plans for current subscribers. And as the holiday season approaches, major wireless carriers in the United States are expected to intensify their efforts in getting new customers. Also, the recent unveiling of Apple’s newest iPhone models (the iPhone 7 and the iPhone 7 Plus) has virtually every mobile operator promoting its own free iPhone deal.
Going back to Sprint’s half off deals, it is worth noting that the wireless carrier’s offer actually doubles in price after a couple of years. As pointed out by Claure, the company has made efforts to notify its subscribers as early as now so that they will not be surprised two years from now. Furthermore, Claure is expecting quite a number of users to eventually transition to Sprint’s unlimited data plan.
With regards to the quality of its network, Claure once again makes it clear that Sprint is as committed as ever in continuously improving its current coverage. As a matter of fact, the CEO has boldly predicted that some time next year, Sprint will be a top two wireless carrier in America.
