The battle to win the hearts and minds of speed-crazed mobile consumers has only just begun to heat up as the first 4G-capable devices hit the market, but T-Mobile has been quietly working on its own HSPA+ network that promises the very same (or greater) coveted 4G speeds. Although HSPA+ isn't technically 4G, T-Mobile announced this morning that 85 million Americans can reportedly already bask in the glory of speeds that can theoretically reach up to 21Mpbs.
T-Mobile has already covered 50 major markets with the upgraded 3G network, and has plans to cover 185 million Americans with HSPA+ by year's end. The nation's fourth-largest wireless carrier notes that the enhanced 3G network will bring faster speeds to 16 devices in its current 3G lineup. On July 21s, T-Mobile will make the webConnect Rocket 2.0 USB Laptop Stick available to customers interested in bringing the broadband-like HSPA+ speeds to their laptops.
