It is plain to see that T-Mobile is not done yet with its aggressive efforts to grab more customers, preferably away from its closest competitors.
Just barely two weeks ago, the Uncarrier had expanded its Simple Choice plan, now allowing 10 lines of service for one plan. At first, the 7th to the 10th lines of service came with a monthly fee of $20.00 each, but now the wireless company has since declared that it has lowered those rates by fifty percent.
This means that subscribers can now enjoy up to 10 lines of service in their plans -- with each line coming with 2.5 gigabytes of high-speed data -- and pay only a maximum of $160.00 every month. If you break down the $160.00, it would consist of $50.00 for the first line, $30.00 for the second, and $10.00 for each line added afterwards. Plus, each line of service in the plan will get unlimited calls, unlimited texting, and throttled data, not to mention other features expected of a Simple Choice plan.
As for the 2.5 gigabytes of LTE data for each line, this inclusion will be valid only until January of 2016. Beyond that time, the data will be lowered to 1 gigabyte per user. The pricing though will remain the same.
Those who already have signed up for the Simple Choice family plans before the price drop -- i.e. subscribers who already availed of additional lines of service for the original $20.00 price -- need not worry, their plans will be automatically updated so that the $10.00 monthly fee will apply. It should be noted that the pricing do not normally include costing for any device, added fees, or taxes, but rates typically stay the same whether you bring your own handset or decide to purchase a new phone.
The carrier's Simple Choice plan update may be a strategic move to counter recent announcements by competitors. Sprint easily comes to mind -- days ago it introduced its Family Share Pack promotional offer. In this family plan, customers can add up to 10 lines of service and share 20 gigabytes of data for a flat monthly fee of $100.00. Just like T-Mobile's offer, Sprint's Family Share Pack comes with a 2016 expiry date. For subscribers of the plan, Sprint has decided to waive the fees for line access for the remainder of 2014 and the whole of 2015.
As for tablet users, they might be delighted to know that starting September 3, customers can enjoy two times the data usage by adding a tablet to any postpaid Simple Choice plan for only $10.00 each month. Those who signed up for plans of up to 5 gigabytes of LTE smartphone data every month will get a matching data plan for their tablets. This means that those on the 1 gigabyte plan will also get another 1 gigabyte for their tablets with no added fees when they bring their devices.
