Back in August of last year, T-Mobile introduced two new unlimited plans -- T-Mobile One and T-Mobile One Plus. Since the launch of these options, the major US wireless carrier has been aggressively courting prospective subscribers by way of promotional deals and plan improvements. This time around, the third biggest mobile operator in the United States has decided to upgrade the bigger of the two plans.
Indeed, since the holidays, T-Mobile has reduced the prices of its One Plus unlimited plan, and for good measure, unveiled a new One Plus International option for mobile users (both new and existing subscribers of the wireless carrier) who are eager to get in touch with family and friends from abroad.
Before, customers were free to upgrade from the regular One plan (which costs $70) to the premium One Plus plan by paying an extra $25 a month (which makes it $95 a month in total for just one line of service). Sure, it is true that the $70 One plan comes with unlimited data, but video streaming is capped at 480 p or less, with T-Mobile making HD passes available for $3 a day. But if a customer upgrades to the $95 One Plus plan, they will get to enjoy unlimited HD video passes, as well as unlimited 3G data roaming when going to destinations outside the US. However, it should be noted though that on the standard One plan, connection speeds will be limited to 2G outside of Canada and Mexico.
But now, T-Mobile has decided to eliminate the monthly price to upgrade to the One Plus plan, which means that a line of service now costs $85 a month, or an additional $15 added to the regular $70 cost of a One plan. Users will still get to enjoy unlimited voice calls, text messaging and data, unlimited HD video passes, the same international features, and unlimited in-flight Gogo Wi-Fi, plus add-ons such as Voicemail to Text and Name ID.
For those who want a cost effective voice call option, they can do wise to upgrade their regular T-Mobile One line of service to a new One Plus International package by paying an additional $25 a month. In this package, all of the inclusions of the One Plus plan are already there, plus unlimited high speed mobile hotspot use and T-Mobile’s own Stateside International Talk extra.
Those who are currently subscribing to a $95 One Plus plan will be automatically transitioned to a One Plus International plan. If they prefer to stay with their regular One Plus option, they can just downgrade by giving T-Mobile a call or visiting the nearest location.
