Sometimes being a mobile subscriber can be tricky, especially when you are new at this thing, and you can not quite determine yet the best mobile plan for your needs, particularly in matters of data usage. It is a good thing that T-Mobile has thought of something that might help those still trying to figure out their data requirements.
The third biggest wireless carrier in the United States has just announced its new Smart Fit option, an introductory mobile plan geared towards those who want to get a better idea of how much data gigabytes they should be getting. Smart Fit should prove handy for new subscribers of T-Mobile, who will get to enjoy unlimited voice calls, unlimited text messaging, and unlimited high speed data, as well as 14 gigabytes of mobile hotspot use, all for only $65 for the first month.
During the first 30 days, subscribers are encouraged to go through their usual mobile usage, and right at the end of their first billing cycle, the Smart Fit feature will recommend a Simple Choice plan that should fit the user’s data usage. Thereafter, customers can opt to jump to the recommended Simple Choice plan, or choose to remain with their $65 a month plan.
It should be noted though that after the first month, subscribers will no longer be able to enjoy unlimited high speed data if they elect to continue with the $65 a month plan. What happens instead is that they will be given 6 gigabytes of data each month. But, subscribers will still get unlimited throttled data, as well as other T-Mobile perks such as unlimited 2G worldwide data, unlimited text messaging, and use of their plan’s inclusions in Mexico and Canada free of charge.
Smart Fit is not a bad deal, especially when you consider that T-Mobile’s unlimited LTE plan typically comes with a rate of $95 a month. More importantly, it allows mobile users to ascertain how much data they really need on a monthly basis. If they can determine that, then they should be able to map out their mobile related spending in the next few months, achieving cost effectiveness in the long run. And with T-Mobile’s plans, data overages should not be a problem because of the inclusion of unlimited slow data on all Simple Choice plans.
Meanwhile, T-Mobile is offering a $200 discount (applied via monthly bill credits over the two years of the contract) on Samsung’s Galaxy S7, Galaxy S7 Edge, and Galaxy Note 5 if customers from rival networks decide to port their phone numbers to a Simple Choice plan of at least 10 gigabytes a month. To become eligible, users must purchase their handset via a 24 month Equipment Installment Plan.
