T-Mobile is now setting its sights on business-oriented customers. Last Wednesday, the major wireless carrier officially announced Uncarrier 9.0, which is a simplified pricing plan for business customers who are planning to get multiple lines of service.
With T-Mobile's Uncarrier 9.0, the prices of the plans get lower the more the business customer adds lines of service to its account. To illustrate, the price of getting 10 to 19 lines is $16 per line. If the business customer gets 20 to 1,000 lines, the price goes down to $15 per line. And then for every line a business customer gets after 1,000 lines, the price per line of service dives to just $10.
The plans already come with unlimited voice calls, unlimited text messaging, and 1 gigabyte of high speed data. Business customers have the option of upgrading individual lines of service by paying $10 more in order to get an additional 2 gigabytes of data. If they want to get unlimited data for individual lines of service, they will have to shell out $30. Business customers may also decide to purchase a bucket of shared data ranging from a 100 gigabyte option that costs $475 per month to a 1 terabyte option that costs $4,250.
No doubt it is refreshing to see for some that T-Mobile is turning its attention to specific types of customers, especially those that belong to the business sector. The carrier has always focused on consumers in the last couple of years, with nothing specific to offer to business customers who often have to avail of standard T-Mobile plans for their company-issued mobile devices.
That may all change with the launch of its Uncarrier 9.0. Moreover, it would be interesting to watch how T-Mobile's competitors will react to its latest move. The carrier is even putting some more icing on the cake by including a free domain and website via GoDaddy, as well as a free .com email address that is supported by Microsoft Office 365 for any business line of service that has additional paid data. Take note that it costs $1 per month to get a domain directly from GoDaddy. As for Microsoft Office 365, getting an email-focused version of this pack costs $5 per month. But through T-Mobile's Uncarrier 9.0, business customers can enjoy them all completely free of charge.
And there's more -- T-Mobile is also tying Uncarrier 9.0 back to personal family plans via its Business Family Discount program. In this program, you can treat your business line of service as the first line on a family plan.
Taking on the business world may be a sign that T-Mobile is ready to play against the leaders of the industry. But it is not going to be easy. Verizon Wireless and AT&T have already quite established themselves in the business sector, not only providing their business customers with tailored-for-business plans, but also offering landline, infrastructure, and even cloud services.
It is no surprise then that T-Mobile is being deliberate on its approach. Hence, it is targeting small- and medium-size enterprises, offering plans that are just right for these types of business customers.
