It appears that US Cellular is joining in on the fun. After some of its competitors have dropped their prices, US Cellular has decided to adjust its pricing structure too, especially with regards to its Shared Connect plans.
Effective as of this writing, US Cellular is introducing new adjusted prices for its 1 gigabyte, 3 gigabyte, 6 gigabyte, 8 gigabyte, and 20 gigabyte shared data plans. With these new prices, customers will now be able to enjoy 3 gigabytes of data for the same rates as the 2 gigabyte plan.
The price of mobile devices as well as access fees are not included with the rate plans. However, US Cellular is giving its subscribers a discount in the amount $30 for connection charges every month, for Shared Connect plans installment pricing and for data plans of 8 gigabytes or more. Basically, a family or group consisting of four members will be able to share 8 gigabytes for just $120 every month.
On top of the adjusted pricing for its rate plans, US Cellular will also be paying the early termination fees for users who decide to leave their contracts with other competing wireless carriers. As for those who choose to port their number from another provider, avail of a Shared Connect plan, and select the equipment installment option, they will get to have $350 back in the form of a prepaid debit card.
Of course, this is not the first time that US Cellular has adjusted its prices this year. Early this month, the regional carrier made changes to the pricing structure and data allotments of its prepaid Simple Connect plans. The upgraded Simple Connect plans now offer the following data with new prices: 1 gigabyte of high-speed data ($45 per month), 2 gigabytes of high-speed data ($55 per month), and 4 gigabytes of high-speed data ($65 per month). Previously, prepaid customers of US Cellular had to pay $50 each month for 55 megabytes of high-speed data, or $60 each month for 2 gigabytes of high-speed data. But with the new Simple Connect plan prices, subscribers can enjoy more flexibility in selecting which data allotment or pricing that fits their monthly wireless needs. On top of all these, the regional carrier is also giving a bonus prepaid card worth $50 to any new customer who decides to avail of a Simple Connect plan.
Two months into the new year, we are already seeing a lot of wireless carriers adjusting their prices or re-structuring the inclusions of their prepaid plans. US Cellular is far from being the only one to do so. Major wireless carriers like T-Mobile and Verizon Wireless have done so, as well as other carriers like MetroPCS, Virgin Mobile, GoSmart, and Cricket Wireless.
