Unlimited data offerings may have picked up in popularity in the last few months, but it is good to know that for those who do not want to get an unlimited plan, there are still mobile operators out there that let consumers pay only for the wireless services they actually consume. One such example of a provider is US Mobile.
The mobile virtual network operator (MVNO) has built a sort of reputation for offering affordable prepaid options and pairing it with customer service that is actually not bad. Well, just recently, US Mobile has revealed some new pricing, and for good measure, also announced that it has restructured its current portfolio of services to include additional options. As always, customers get to choose just how many minutes of voice calls, number of text messages, and bytes of data they think they require and then paid for those inclusions in advance.

Some may have already noticed how US Mobile’s pricing, especially with regards to voice call minutes, fares very well as compared to another MVNO -- Ting Mobile. For instance, US Mobile gives customers 500 minutes of voice calls at $6, which is cheaper than Ting’s $9. As minutes go up, the difference widens, too -- US Mobile offers 1,000 voice call minutes at $8 (versus $18 at Ting) and 2,000 minutes at $10 ($35 at Ting for 2,100 minutes). In terms of the number of text messages and bytes of data, it appears that US Mobile also has a slight upper hand.

Of course, consumers may have that small problem of not really knowing how much voice call minutes, number of text messages, and bytes of data they will be using on a monthly basis. Fortunately, US Mobile tries to help in that area, too. In August of last year, it was reported that the MVNO was using a solution based on machine learning that helps people determine their wireless requirements. What the machine learning solution does is look into the mobile consumption patterns of users, and then try to recommend a range of minutes, texts, and data megabytes/gigabytes that will fit the customer’s mobile needs.
