Verizon Wireless had decided to further expand its TravelPass global roaming service by adding more than 30 new countries to the list of included locations. For those not familiar with the Big Red’s TravelPass global roaming feature, it basically allows subscribers of the biggest wireless carrier in the United States to enjoy access to their plan’s voice calls, text messaging, and data allotment when visiting countries outside of America.
Verizon Wireless subscribers with plans to visit Canada or Mexico will be paying $2 each day per line of service for TravelPass. As for the other countries included the service’s list of locations, subscribers going to any of these will be paying $10 every day for each line of service. It should be noted though that the $2 a day fee or the $10 a day fee will only be applied on specific days when the subscriber uses his handset to make or take a call, send a text message, or use data. Moreover, subscribers will only be required to pay a TravelPass charge for each line of service just one time for every 24 hour period, even if they are going to more than one country in the course of a single day.
With the recently expanded list of countries, Verizon Wireless’ TravelPass global roaming feature is now made available to nearly 40 new locations across South America, Central America, and Europe, as well as select nations within the Asia Pacific region. For the record, the newly added countries include:
Papua New Guinea
Republic of Korea (South)
As for those who have not activated their access to the Big Red’s TravelPass global roaming feature yet, they only need to go to their MyVerizon account page, and then choose Manage International Services. Those who have the MyVerizon mobile app installed in their handsets can similarly switch on the service through the app.
But wait -- what happens if subscribers are visiting a location not included in TravelPass’ list of countries? Verizon Wireless has pay as you go travel rates for instances like this, but it bears noting that such rates are typically more pricey compared to TravelPass’ pricing.
