Verizon Wireless recently revealed its newest Android smartphone offering, the Samsung Galaxy Core Prime. Positioned as an entry-level handset, the Samsung Galaxy Core Prime will be made available on the online Verizon Wireless store beginning on Thursday, February 26th.
The Galaxy Core Prime handset may be an ideal device for first time mobile users. It comes with a 4.5-inch display screen, complemented with a 5-megapixel camera on the rear side and a 2-megapixel camera on the front side.
When it comes to hardware specifications, this smartphone is equipped with a 1.2 GigaHertz quad-core chip set, and is supported with 8 gigabytes of storage. Users who prefer more storage space need not worry because the Galaxy Core Prime comes with a microSD expansion card slot. Lastly, this handset runs on Android 4.4 KitKat, and has a 2,000 mAh battery. Plus, the Ultra Power Saving Mode feature of the device will maximize the handset’s battery life.
The Samsung Galaxy Core Prime also comes with Easy Mode, which creates a simplified homescreen that already houses pre-set apps such as Messaging, Gallery, and Camera. Icons are enlarged and positioned on the center, giving users easy access to their favorite mobile apps. Another cool thing about Easy Mode is that it is customizable, which means that users can just the add their preferred mobile apps. Favorite and frequently used contacts are made available with just a quick swipe to the right from the homescreen.
And because the device is carried by the Big Red, it also comes with a few Verizon Wireless tweaks. For instance, the Samsung Galaxy Core Prime is launching with Advanced Calling 1.0 capabilities. This means that users of the device will will be able to enjoy HD Voice Calling to other compatible Verizon Wireless mobile devices. Also, enabling this feature allows simultaneous voice and data use, which means that subscribers can make calls and surf the Internet at the same time.
The Galaxy Core Prime has first introduced in India about a week ago along with other new devices that include two other Galaxy devices, namely the Galaxy Grand Prime and the Galaxy J1. All three new Samsung handsets were 4G-enabled upon their launch in India.
The Samsung Galaxy Core Prime smartphone will be available on retail for a price of $29.99 with a two year service contract, or if bought on Verizon Edge, $8 every month. Those who want to purchase the handset directly from the nearest Verizon Wireless store will have to wait until March 5th of this year.
