As the biggest wireless carrier in the United States, Verizon Wireless is expected to offer high profile smartphone releases such as Samsung’s recently unveiled Galaxy Note 7 and Motorola’s newMoto Z flagship devices. But that does not mean that the wireless industry leader is averse to offering budget friendly mobile devices.
Just this week, the Big Red revealed that it will be offering HTC’s Desire 530 beginning on August 11th of this year. The wireless carrier is already accepting preorders for the device, which will come with a price of $144 (no contract). For those who want to purchase the handset by way of an installment plan, they can do so for just $6 a month over a period of 24 months. Lastly, Verizon Wireless will be offering the HTC Desire 530 smartphone in an exclusive blue color option.
HTC first announced its Desire 530 handset back in February early this year during the Mobile World Congress held in the beautiful city of Barcelona in Spain, alongside other Desire smartphones such as the Desire 630 and the Desire 825. Upon its unveiling, the Desire 530 caught the attention of the industry because of its unique design, which was inspired by street wear fashion.
For those not familiar the device, HTC’s Desire 530 features a 5 inch LCD display screen (with 720 pixel resolution), flanked by an 8 megapixel camera on the rear side (with LED flash) as well as a 5 megapixel camera on the front side. Hardware wise, the Desire 530 is equipped with a 1.1 GigaHertz quad core Qualcomm Snapdragon 210 processor that is supported with 1.5 gigabytes of random access memory (RAM), plus 16 gigabytes of onboard storage (expandable via a micro SD card slot). Other specifications of the Desire 530 include a 2,200 mAh battery, BoomSound speakers, Voice Selfie mode, Auto Selfie mode, and is powered by Google’s Android Marshmallow. With regards to its design, the HTC Desire 530 comes with a micro splash treatment, which provides a splash dotted effect on the handset’s polycarbonate frame. The result is that every unit is rendered distinct from each other.
Back in July earlier this year, the Taiwanese mobile giant had stated that the smartphone will be made available on both prepaid and postpaid options not only from Verizon Wireless, but also from another major US wireless carrier, T-Mobile. HTC also had expressed plans to offer a special unlocked edition of the Desire 530 in a Sprinkle White avatar for a price of $179.
