Sprint and T-Mobile are already at it, battling each other in a quest to offer the best deal for Apple’s recently launched iPhone 6s device. And now, it appears that the biggest wireless carrier in the United States, Verizon Wireless, is finally ready to join in on the fun. The Big Red has just revealed that subscribers purchasing the iPhone 6s or its bigger sibling the iPhone 6s Plus via the wireless carrier’s Device Payment plans will be made to qualify for an iPhone upgrade each year, no strings attached and absolutely free of charge.
Verizon Wireless had recently eliminated its subsidized two year smartphone agreements, as well as its Verizon Edge early upgrade program, which meant that its subscribers are now left with the option of either purchasing handsets at full price, or via the wireless carrier’s new 24 month payment plan.
But with the way the iPhone 6s price wars have been raging lately, the wireless carrier may be thinking it is high time it makes an effort to offer a sweetened iPhone 6s deal to its customers, too. To summarize, here’s what Verizon Wireless offers for prospective buyers of Apple’s newest iPhone models:

iPhone 6s Plus
Now for the fine print. Under the Device Payment plan, customers will not need to trade in any device in exchange for the new iPhone 6s. They only have to sign up for 24 monthly payments, and then be allowed to upgrade to a new iPhone model after 12 months. Or, they can choose to keep paying, and at the end of a couple of years, the iPhone is theirs to keep with no more payments to completed. Those who have already preordered their iPhone 6s under the Device Payment plan will be automatically enrolled in the early upgrade program, but are not obligated to trade up after one year. Also, there are no extra upgrade charges, but they will need to sign a new 24 month contract when they move up to a new iPhone. Lastly, customers will need an eligible Verizon Wireless smartphone plan to go along with their new iPhone.
