Comcast’s wireless service, Xfinity Mobile, will be the only mobile operator based in the United States that will be selling LG’s new smartphone offering, the X Charge. The LG X Charge is the latest fairly sized handset to come from the South Korean tech giant, and has the distinction of having the biggest battery of any LG smartphone to date. The 5.5 inch device is being positioned by the phone maker as a good choice for mobile users with above average data requirements.
As a smartphone exclusively available only to Xfinity Mobile, the LG X Charge will be competitively priced. And as explained by Chang Ma, the president of LG Electronics MobileComm USA, via an official press release, the LG X Charge is meant to be a smartphone that marries the advantages of a big display with a long lasting battery, as well as other flagship features that LG fans have come to expect, such as quality camera specifications and a capable HD screen.
As far as specifications are concerned, the LG X Charge does offer some interesting components. Apart from a battery that is said to last an entire weekend of maximum usage, the handset is also equipped with a 13 megapixel main camera on the rear side, and a 5 megapixel selfie shooter on the front side. With regards to hardware specs, the device is fitted with a 1.5 GigaHertz eight core chip set, aided by a couple of gigabytes of random access memory (RAM) as well as 16 gigabytes of built in memory. Software wise, the X Charge comes preloaded with Google’s Android 7.0 Nougat mobile operating system.
With this new development, Xfinity Mobile now offers a pair of LG devices -- the X Charge and the X Power. As a very new mobile virtual network operator (MVNO), Comcast’s wireless service still has some ways to go before it can compete with other similar providers in the market, let alone the Big Four (Verizon Wireless, AT&T, T-Mobile, and Sprint). But landing an exclusive deal to sell a new device made by a brand as familiar as LG may already be a win nonetheless, and if Xfinity Mobile continues to expand its smartphone offerings, its customer base should expand too, that is if Comcast decides to extend eligibility beyond those already subscribed to its high end X1 plans.
