And now it appears that the smaller Xperia Z3 Compact smartphone will also be coming to the US market soon. Just recently, the Sony Xperia Z3 Compact was sighted on Sony Mobile's US website. More specifically, the device has its own dedicated web page, which lists the smartphone's specifications and even features a few images of the Xperia Z3 Compact in four colors. The page even has a Buy Now button, but alas, clicking on it only leads to a landing page instead of a real e-store.
The Xperia Z3 Compact's appearance in Sony Mobile's US website is no full guarantee of course that the device will be sold in the US. Still, fans of Sony's Xperia phones will no doubt be crossing their fingers, especially those eager to try the more handy Xperia Z3 Compact. As of this writing, no US carrier has officially made a statement yet that they will be pushing the Xperia Z3 Compact soon. But those who closely follow Sony smartphones need only remind themselves that in the past, the Japanese phone maker had previously offered a few unlocked handsets to American buyers. It is quite possible that the same could happen to the Xperia Z3 Compact.
If the Xperia Z3 Compact does breach US shores, then it would definitely be a win for American consumers. US penetration has long been sort of a struggle for Sony in recent years. But the way things are going for its Xperia line of smartphones, things might just be in for a turnaround. T-Mobile got the ball rolling when it launched its own Xperia Z3 earlier this month, a nice addition to its Xperia Z1S, which currently is available in the carrier's stores for some time now. Then Verizon Wireless got in on the act by launching the Xperia Z3v, its own souped version of the device. The Xperia Z3v is slated to debut on Verizon's stores on October 23rd this year.
American consumers should find the Sony Xperia Z3 Compact an interesting smartphone choice. It comes with a 4.6-inch 1280 by 720 display screen complimented with a 20.7-megapixel rear camera with Exmor RS image sensor, and a 2.2-megapixel front-facing camera. The device uses a 2.5 GigaHertz quad-core Snapdragon 801 processor powered by a 2,600 mAh battery. Storage-wise, the Xperia Z3 Compact has 16 gigabytes of internal memory, 2 gigabytes of random access memory (RAM), and a microSD slot with support for cards up to 128 gigabytes. This handy handset runs on Android 4.4 KitKat, and is rated IP65 and IP68 for dust and water resistance, respectively.
As hinted earlier, there is no word yet regarding the release date of the Sony Xperia Z3 Compact. For now, fans will just have to bide their time.
