Smartphones with dual camera configurations are making waves in this year’s Consumer Electronic Show currently being held in the Entertainment Capital of the World. There was Huawei’s Honor 6X and Asus’ ZenFone 3 Zoom, which both made their debuts in CES 2017. Joining the club is ZTE’s Blade V8 Pro, and it appears that among the trio, this one is the winner in terms of pricing.
Indeed, the ZTE Blade V8 Pro comes with a quite manageable price of $230, and it already offers a pair of 13 megapixel cameras on the rear side, a 5.5 inch full HD display screen (with a resolution of 1,920 by 1,080 pixels, and 2.5D Corning Gorilla Glass), and a capable eight core 2 GigaHertz Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 chip set.
And that is only the tip of the iceberg. ZTE’s latest smartphone offering is also equipped with an 8 megapixel selfie shooter on the front side, 3 gigabytes of random access memory (RAM), 32 gigabytes of built in storage (expandable by way of support for micro SD cards up to 128 gigabytes), an embedded fingerprint reader, a 3,140 mAh battery (non-removable), and Google’s Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow mobile operating system.
But what really impresses is how well ZTE has achieved the dual camera set up of the Blade V8 Pro. The twin 13 megapixel cameras actually are sharper than the pairing on Huawei’s Honor 6X. Moreover, photography enthusiasts are allowed to achieve bokeh effects, and can even adjust the blur settings according to their preferences. On top of that, the Blade V8 Pro is also capable of shooting 4K video footage.
A note on the device’s battery -- at 3,140 mAh, the Blade V8 Pro’s battery lasts longer than that of the Axon 7, the flagship device that ZTE released in the United States back in July of last year. To provide some context, the Axon 7’s battery was capable of lasting through a day and a half, and the Blade V8 Pro should be able to produce even more power efficient results.
The debut of the Blade V8 Pro (the handset ships January 11th and is already made available for preorder) marks the first time that a midrange smartphone belonging to the Chinese phone maker’s Blade lineup of devices is coming to American shores. For those still not familiar with this family of smartphones, it is actually in its eighth generation now, and has proven to be a hit in international markets, particularly European, Asian, and Latin American regions. ZTE is claiming that to date, it has sold over 50 million units of Blade devices across the globe.
