On Asus’ official website itself, four models of the tech giant’s ZenFone 4 smartphone were recently leaked. We should already be used to the idea of multiple editions of a particular ZenFone release. A year ago after all, the company’s ZenFone 3 smartphones included various specific variants, including the ZenFone 3 Deluxe, the ZenFone 3 Laser, and more recently back in January early this year, the ZenFone 3 Zoom (which sports a cool dual camera configuration).
During the annual Consumer Electronics Show (CES) that was held back in January early this year, Asus had generated some buzz with the debut of its ZenFone AR smartphone. In the seven months since it was first unveiled, nobody quite really knew how much the Android powered phablet would cost. Well, those looking to purchase the device will be delighted to know that the handset can now be bought exclusively from the biggest wireless carrier in America.
Based on what has been revealed at Google’s I/O developer conference that happened just a few weeks ago, Asus’ upcoming phablet, the ZenFone AR, is nearing its official release date, and the device will be hitting the United States mobile market some time this summer as an exclusive offering from Verizon Wireless. According to Engadget, the handset will be making its worldwide debut in Taiwan by mid-June, and it should launch in US store shelves either in late June or in early July.
Qualcomm may have inadvertently announced Asus’ ZenFone AR phablet in advance, but it does not mean the device is not worth checking out now that it has officially seen the light of day. As leaked earlier, the ZenFone AR holds the distinction of being the first commercially available smartphone to have support for both Google’s Daydream virtual reality platform and Tango augmented reality technology.
Qualcomm may have accidentally revealed the ZenFone AR device, Asus’ latest smartphone offering and the second handset to come with support for Tango, Google’s augmented reality technology. Through a blog post, the chip maker giant inadvertently spilled the beans on an upcoming press conference to be held by Asus on January 4th of this year during the annual Consumer Electronics Show happening in the city of Las Vegas in Nevada this week.
Looking to purchase a small but capable tablet device? You might want to check out the latest tablet offering from the biggest wireless carrier in the United States. At this year’s Computex expo held in Taipei, ASUS took the opportunity to officially introduce not one but a trio of new smartphone devices (as part of its promise) -- namely the ZenFone 3, the ZenFone 3 Deluxe, and the ZenFone 3 Ultra. All three phablets come with color options of Shimmer Gold, Sapphire Black, Moonlight White, and Aqua Blue.
ASUS’s ZenFone Zoom has the distinction of being the first modern smartphone in around the world to possess a camera with 3x optical zoom but without any protrusion. This handset was first introduced by ASUS almost exactly one year ago at the annual Consumer Electronics Show (CES 2015) held in the city of Las Vegas in Nevada to the delightful surprise of camera loving mobile users out there.
It is definitely full steam ahead for Asus, at least with regards to its ZenFone line of mobile devices. The Taiwan based tech company is planning to launch up to 7 new ZenFone models next year. As told by Jerry Shen, chief executive officer of Asus, to Taiwanese publication DigiTimes recently, the new releases in 2016 will include a premium ZenFone Deluxe device, two models of the mainstream ZenFone Laser handset, one ZenFone Selfie and ZenFone Max, and one or a couple of ZenFone Go devices.
