Pinterest has developed a new feature that will allows its users to search for products they like with the use of the camera on their smartphone devices. And the social media firm is planning to launch this tool very soon. Basically, this is how the feature functions -- when users head to Pinterest search and tap the visual search button and then point their smartphone’s camera at any product they fancy, a visual search will automatically ensue. What Pinterest will do is populate the photo with numerous items it has detected, and the user can simply tap on any dot in order to receive recommendations for similar products.
Pinterest has just started activating buy buttons on its pins in its mobile app for the iPhone and the iPad. For those not in the know, the social network company introduced Buyable Pins in early June. These Buyable Pins basically allows browsers to purchase items directly from Pinterest pins without having to be redirected to another website outside Pinterest’s interface.
