According to a report recently released by Rosenblatt Securities, this year’s Black Friday weekend saw consumers purchase 6 million units of Apple’s iPhone X. The flagship device’s total tally in terms of estimated units sold is now at 15 million, which is an impressive number not only because it has only been three weeks since the handset has hit store shelves everywhere, but also because the device happens to be the most expensive smartphone ever released by Apple.
This year, it appears that mobile virtual network operator Republic Wireless is not too keen on Black Friday. Instead, the carrier will be unleashing Taco Tuesday, which will see the MVNO offer a range of special deals November 29th (the Tuesday right after Black Friday, hence the name). It might turn out to be a wise decision, especially for somebody like Republic Wireless, who might be better off choosing its battles carefully. Year after year, the Black Friday and Cyber Monday shopping frenzy is getting more crowded, and for an MVNO, offering special deals a day after the storm might not be so bad.
It has only been a couple of weeks since T-Mobile made some potentially industry shaking announcements during its Uncarrier X event held in the city of Los Angeles in early November this year, and it is quite understandably, mobile users might not have recovered yet. But it appears that it is still full steam ahead for the wireless carrier, which is launching yet another promotion for subscribers of its Simple Choice plans.
