According to SINTEF, a research firm based in Norway, it seems that the Grindr mobile app is sharing the HIV status of its users to a number of third party companies. The dating app allows its users the option of having their HIV status displayed on their profiles, and apparently this piece of information has been included in packets transmitted to Apptimize and Localytics, without the knowledge and presumably, the consent of Grindr users.
According to a study conducted by Match.com and Research Now, Android mobile users are 15 times as likely to unfavorably judge a date for using an iPhone device. On the other extreme, owners of iPhone devices are 21 times more likely to negatively judge a date for owning an Android powered handset.
Back in the days, it used to be between the Coca Cola and the Pepsi crowds, but in the age of mobile devices, it is now Android versus iOS. Of course, people are not that crazy (yet) -- arguments do ensue, but most of them are of the teasing kind. But this latest study does confirm one thing -- we really do tend to favor our own, even over people who could be potential partners for life (or for a long time).
Tired of using a dating app but never actually get to the actual date? While most of today’s dating apps do give you an opportunity to go out with somebody potentially interesting, sometimes the actual date is never set up (or delayed needlessly) amidst the endless exchange of chat messages.
It pretty much sucks when Valentine's Day is fast approaching and you don't have a date. But don't give up just yet. In this day and age, there is an app for everything, and we got some apps listed below that might help you hook up with somebody this weekend.
Let us start with something that you probably already have heard about -- Tinder. If you have no idea what it is, it is basically just an app that lets you browse through photos of people. If you find someone attractive or interesting, you just swipe right. If they are not your type, you just swipe left. If someone you swiped right also finds you interesting, you will be able to send each other messages directly.
