Chinese phone makers such as Huawei and ZTE have achieved some success by introducing unlocked smartphone devices with affordable prices in the United States market. Japan based mobile manufacturer Freetel obviously wants to join in on the fun. Just this week, the phone maker has officially introduced its newest smartphone offering, the Rei, a device that ships with Android 6.0 Marshmallow (the latest version of Google’s Android mobile operating system) and comes with a price of$249. Freetel is looking to launch this smartphone in the US a month or so from now.
While mobile giants like Apple and Samsung are waging a battle for smartphone supremacy, especially in the area of premium priced handsets, players such as Alcatel OneTouch, Freetel, and Blu are locked in a heated skirmish of their own, fighting for dominion over the sub-$300 smartphone market in the United States.
