The battle of the flagship smartphones is really heating up now. Samsung and HTC have already confirmed that they will be launching their respective flagship devices -- the Galaxy S6 and the Galaxy S6 Edge for Samsung; the One M9 for HTC -- within the month of April. And now, it appears that LG will soon be joining the fray.
Samsung, HTC, and other prominent phone makers are set to introduce new smartphones during the upcoming Mobile World Congress happening in the first week of March. But LG is apparently not waiting one more week to unveil its newest devices named Joy, Leon, Spirit, and Magna. Those expecting a newer version of the South Korean phone maker's flagship device, the G3, may be a bit disappointed, but these four new devices should appeal to those looking for budget-friendly mid-range handsets.
The Leon, Joy, Magna, and Spirit smartphones may not be flagship devices, but they sure do look similar to the G3. Indeed, they feature the same slightly curved design and even have the same sleep and volume buttons (mounted on the rear).
Sprint subscribers who are eagerly awaiting the launch LG G Flex 2 smartphone will be able to purchase the device from the carrier starting on March 13th of this year. Those who want to order in advance will not have long to wait -- pre-orders for the handset will begin on February 20th.
Sprint will be making the LG G Flex 2 available in two choices of colors -- platinum silver or volcano red. Any of these editions will cost buyers $504 (off-contract), which they can choose to stretch over 24 regular payments of $21 every month for a period of two years.
The US Patent and Trademark Office recently granted Apple a patent dubbed "flexible electronic devices." Essentially, it describes a handset that is made up of flexible components both in its internal and external parts.
Back in 2014, LG released the G Flex handset, a 6-inch smartphone with a unique curved body design and a self-healing coating that clears up scratches or any damage done to the device's casing.
Now, the South Korean company is introducing an enhanced and more streamlined version, the G Flex 2. This time around, the newest version comes with a smaller but more handy 5.5-inch display screen, and Qualcomm's most powerful chip set.
The G Flex 2 smartphone was introduced by LG during its very recent press conference at the Consumer Electronics Show 2015 (CES 2015) held in Las Vegas, Nevada in the United States.
