Just this week, Sprint has revealed that it will be offering basic data and text messaging, absolutely free of charge, in 165 locations across the globe. On top of this, the major US wireless carrier is also offering voice calls at a price of $0.20 a minute. Moreover, its subscribers are also free to buy LTE high speed data directly from their mobile device, even without having to place a phone call to customer service support.
Many agree that traveling to other countries is fun -- well except when you have to deal with roaming charges (which can be often borderline exorbitant). But Tink Labs, a firm from Hong Kong, is offering a solution to this problem -- specifically by providing custom made handsets in hotel rooms around the world specially for travelers. These phones would then come with free data, which means that guests can make full use of them when going online, and yup, not worry about roaming fees.
T-Mobile is promising to bring unlimited LTE data to this summer’s highly awaited Olympic games happening in the beautiful city of Rio de Janeiro in Brazil. Indeed, the third biggest wireless carrier in the United States has announced that it will provide postpaid subscribers under any Simple Choice plan with unlimited high speed data, as well as voice calls and text messaging absolutely free of charge, while they are attending the 31st Olympics in the Marvelous City.
For those who are traveling to other countries, going international with one’s smartphone or tablet device can be a bit of a hassle, especially for those who were not able to snag themselves a decent international roaming mobile plan. Indeed, for these users, they often have to rely mostly on Wi-Fi connections wherever and whenever they can find them, or else, swallow international roaming fees, which at times can reach seemingly exorbitant amounts.
FreedomPop already provides its customers with international calling, domestic voice calls and text messaging and data. Now, the American wireless carrier mainly known for offering free voice and data services is debuting a brand new worldwide roaming product at a special offer price. Its Global 3-in-1 SIM card is targeted at mobile users who travel around the world a lot, but want to do away with paying roaming charges if they can help it. FreedomPop’s newest kit comes with a GSM compatible SIM card (ideal for regular, micro, and Nano SIM card sizes), as well as a free trial of the mobile operator’s Global Unlimited Talk, Text and 1 Gigabyte Data offering.
Verizon Wireless had decided to further expand its TravelPass global roaming service by adding more than 30 new countries to the list of included locations. For those not familiar with the Big Red’s TravelPass global roaming feature, it basically allows subscribers of the biggest wireless carrier in the United States to enjoy access to their plan’s voice calls, text messaging, and data allotment when visiting countries outside of America.
Sprint first offered its Open World feature back in August of last year, offering free voice calls, text messaging, and high speed data in countries such as Canada and Mexico, as well as specific locations in Latin America. Fast forwarding to around five months, the wireless carrier continues to expand the service’s reach, recently announcing that it has added 36 new countries and locations to its Open World and Global Roaming features. With the new additions, Open World’s total count is now at 110 destinations around the world.
