Fresh from announcing more than a week ago that it was rolling out Google Lens to non-Pixel handsets, Google has now revealed (via a tweet) that it is now doing the same for the feature to iOS powered mobile devices.
About a couple of weeks ago, Google had announced that it was looking to roll out Google Lens to other non-Pixel handsets, especially those Android powered smartphone devices released by mobile brands such as Samsung, LG, Motorola, Huawei, Sony, and HMD Global (the Finland based phone maker who has licensed the Nokia name). Well, the deployment has officially begun.
Google Lens was first introduced back in May of last year, during Google’s annual I/O developer conference. For those who missed the news, Google Lens is basically an augmented reality powered software platform that not only can detect and decipher texts, but also even recognize objects (in real time) either from scanning pictures or by viewing the actual objects through a camera sensor.
Google has launched a new feature that lets Android mobile users create $35 custom cases for Nexus devices such as the Nexus 5x (built by LG), the Nexus 6 (built by Motorola), and the Nexus 6P. People get to pick between a couple of options for the Live Cases.
Apart from officially announcing Android M (the latest version of the Android mobile operating system) and the Android Pay mobile payment system at its I/O developer conference held in San Francisco, Google also took the opportunity to announce that it is giving its Google Photos a makeover -- specifically taking it out of Google+, and then infusing it with free unlimited storage.
