The Big Red has quietly debuted its Voice over LTE (VoLTE) service for its prepaid customers. Verizon Wireless is branding the service as HD Voice, and basically it allows prepaid customers of the biggest mobile operator in the United States to utilize data while on a voice call, to complete one or two way video calls, and to enjoy access to to six way conference calls. Verizon’s HD Voice promises better audio reception and is capable of being accessed over Wi-Fi calling.
Not content with watching all the major wireless carriers in the United States deploy their own HD Voice and Voice over LTE (VoLTE) technology, regional carrier US Cellular has finally decided to join in on the fun.
AT&T first launched its Voice over LTE (VoLTE) service about seven months ago, but now the carrier is expanding its reach by adding 18 new markets for its VoLTE and HD Voice offerings.
The list of new markets include District of Columbia, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Maryland, Michigan, Minnesota, Nevada, North Carolina, Ohio, Oregon, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Texas, Utah, Virginia, Washington, and Wisconsin.
