Strictly speaking, there is still over a couple of weeks to go before Black Friday arrives, but HTC has decided to launch its special offers early. This is clearly an effort by the Taiwanese phone maker to get a jump on the competition, and in the process, further fuel the excitement of consumers who can not wait for Thanksgiving weekend to start.
Some of you may have already heard that Google has just unleashed the first beta version of its upcoming Android N mobile operating system (the successor to the current Android Marshmallow, with the N name still to be decided). HTC has wasted no time in expressing its support for the latest iteration of the mobile OS.
South Korean phone makers Samsung and LG took the opportunity to introduce their respective flagship devices right around the time the Mobile World Congress kicked off this year in the city of Barcelona in Spain.
It is apparently another disappointing quarter for HTC. The Taiwanese phone maker reported a second net loss for the 2015. The company had managed to post a small profit during the first quarter of this year, but a slow performance in terms of sales have immensely contributed to a loss amounting to $138 million during the third quarter.
It appears that things are not looking up for HTC. During the second quarter of this year, HTC sees its revenues drop significantly and its profits turning to losses. Apparently, the recent release of its newest flagship device, the One M9, was not enough to improve the Taiwanese phone maker’s sales performance.
HTC recently introduced a version of its One M9 smartphone that features a bigger display screen. Officially named the One M9+, this handset comes with a 5.2 inch display screen that has 2000 resolution, as well as a 20 megapixel Duo Camera, which is equipped with a secondary camera lens that helps in capturing images that are more detailed. The Duo Camera is a feature that is also found on the previous version of HTC's flagship device, the One M8.
The battle of the flagship smartphones is really heating up now. Samsung and HTC have already confirmed that they will be launching their respective flagship devices -- the Galaxy S6 and the Galaxy S6 Edge for Samsung; the One M9 for HTC -- within the month of April. And now, it appears that LG will soon be joining the fray.
Nothing much actually. But considering that the HTC One M8 smartphone was a pretty cool device already, that’s perfectly alright.
HTC recently debuted its latest flagship device, the HTC One M9, during the Mobile World Congress held in Barcelona, Spain. And while Samsung decided to experiment with new things with the introduction of its flagship devices (the Galaxy S6 and its curvy variant the Galaxy S6 Edge), the Taiwanese phone maker has opted to stick with what has made its products a hit -- consistency in the quality of its flagship’s features.
Not content to just sit while its competitors are releasing their own wearable devices, HTC is also planning to launch its own offering in two months time. As reported by Bloomberg, the Taiwanese tech company is set to introduce its first smartwatch in March of this year.
Several times in the past few years, HTC has been rumored to be developing its own line of wearable devices. When Google announced Android Wear, HTC was even mentioned by name as one of its tech partners. But it appears HTC never really got a product released in the market.
