As promised nearly a month ago, Lenovo has officially launched its newest phablet offering, the Phab 2 Pro. For those not familiar with this device, it has the distinction of being the first smartphone out in the market to come with support for Google’s Tango augmented reality tech. The handset comes with a price of $500.
This year is turning out to be a pretty good year for smartphone releases (Galaxy Note 7 troubles notwithstanding). And Google is looking to be one of the winners -- the tech giant after all has just officially introduced its newest smartphone devices (the Pixel and the Pixel XL), and many industry watchers are saying these handsets are good enough to hold their own against Apple’s iPhone devices and Samsung’s high end Galaxy offerings.
Apart from officially introducing its two newest Motorola modular flagship devices -- the Moto Z and the Moto Z Force, Lenovo also took the opportunity to introduce a family of smartphones under its own branding. As can be gleaned from the name, the new Phab2 devices are a follow up to the Phab and Phab Plus phablets that the Chinese unveiled in September of last year. But it appears that this year, Lenovo’s latest phablets have a few cool things to offer.
