Samsung has revealed that it has started mass producing Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 820 chip utilizing a second generation of its 14 nanometer Low Power Plus (LPP) chip manufacturing process. The South Korean tech giant has been looking to further expand its processor manufacturing division, and landing the Snapdragon 820 gig marks a big step towards achieving that goal. Also, in light of its recent struggles in its smartphone business, it should help alleviate things a bit for Samsung.
Qualcomm obviously wants everybody take notice of its Snapdragon 820 processor. Less than a week ago, it highlighted the fact that its new chip has a feature called Smart Protect, a functionality that allows owners of any smartphone that uses the Snapdragon 820 chip to track apps that are behaving suspiciously.
