Google has recently taken the opportunity to roll out a new update that is specifically meant for users of Apple’s iPad Pro and iPad Air 2 tablet devices, especially those units that already are powered by iOS 9. So what exactly does this latest update bring? Well, it brings the cool split screen multitasking functionality to Google Docs, Sheets and Slides for iOS.
Apple and Microsoft have already done it, and it appears that Google wants to join in on the fun, too. What we are talking about, of course, is the ability to generate a split screen view on a tablet’s display, in effect showing more than one mobile app on the screen for the user to interact with. Indeed, Google’s competitors already possess this capability, and the mobile giant is looking to keep up very soon.
With the new iOS 9 powering its software, Apple’s next iPad Mini offering may come with a split view feature that will already be found on the iPad Air 2. Apple actually teased a split screen mode when it demoed its upcoming latest version of its iOS mobile operating system during the Worldwide Developers Conference held back in June earlier this year.
The ability to display two apps on one screen simultaneously is not new. In fact, the Samsung Galaxy Note 2 possesses this capability, and so do other Samsung tablets and selected smartphones, especially those with large screens.
But when you examine the products offered by most mobile device makers, it is a good bet that you will not be able to find another device that has this feature. Why not?
