Well known Swiss watch maker TAG Heuer has effectively confirmed that it will be officially announcing a new Connected smartwatch device this coming March 14th. The company has already released a teaser by way of Twitter promoting its upcoming latest wearable offering. Based on the teaser so far, there seems to be no major departure in terms of the design, although there is talk that this time around, the new smartwatch will come with tweaks to make it more appropriate to be worn on women’s wrists.
During the final quarter of last year, shipments of smartwatch devices across the globe have outpaced shipments of Swiss watches, according to information provided by market research firm Strategy Analytics just this week. This marks the first time that smartwatches have surpassed Swiss watches in terms of worldwide shipment volume. Big credit, of course, goes to the Apple Watch, the first and only wearable device produced by Apple so far.
The smartwatch market will soon get a little more crowded. That is because TAG Heuer, the centuries old Swiss watch maker, is thinking of launching its own smartwatch. And the world-renown brand is going to do it by teaming up with two giants in the world of technology -- Google and Intel.
