The latest American Customer Satisfaction Index (ACSI) report has just been published this week, providing information on which companies today have scored the best in terms of achieving customer satisfaction among US consumers in industries such as wireless service, mobile devices, fixed line phone, Internet service, and subscription TV.
It looks like there is going to be a new addition to the already extensive list of mobile virtual network operators (MVNOs) already operating in the United States. TracFone is launching Total Wireless, a new prepaid brand that will be available exclusively from retail giant Walmart.
Total Wireless is expected to offer low-price plans that individual users and families or groups can take advantage of. Because it is an MVNO, the prepaid carrier will reportedly be utilizing Verizon's nationwide network.
When you offer unlimited data, you should provide unlimited data. The Federal Trade Commission (FTC) continues to impose that rule by fining mobile virtual network operator TracFone $40 million for throttling the data speeds of its subscribers.
According to the FTC, TracFone has misled its subscribers by advertising plans with unlimited data and then slowing down the data speeds (and in some cases, even shut down the data) when customers go beyond a certain amount of gigabytes of data per month.
TracFone apparently throttled data speeds when users consumed between 1 to 3 gigabytes of data within a billing period, and even completely cut off data after 4 to 5 gigabytes.
