As revealed by Randall Stephenson, the chief executive officer of AT&T, the major US wireless carrier is planning to officially launch DirecTV Now, its online video streaming service, some time in the last quarter of 2016. He also took the opportunity to hint that the feature will come with over a hundred premium channels and aggressive price points.

Granted, this latest move from a company primarily known for satellite TV services is a bit odd, but why not, right?
AT&T has recently released its earnings report for the first quarter of 2016, registering revenues of $40.5 billion (or $0.72 a share), a figure that represents a significant improvement over the $32.6 billion it posted during the first quarter of 2015. This number also comfortably surpassed projections set by industry watchers from Wall Street. Analysts had expected the second biggest wireless carrier in the United States to report a profit of $0.69 per share.
AT&T has announced that it is planning to guarantee the price of a new DirecTV subscription for a couple of years for those subscribers who decide to combine it with any one of the wireless carrier’s new or current services, such as wireless or home Internet. In this deal, subscribers will be made to pay the regular $50 a month fee for DirecTV. Users who decide to bundle it with home Internet can enjoy connection speeds of up to 6 mbps, if they are game with paying an extra $30 each month.
The second biggest wireless carrier in the United States recently introduced three brand new video services under its DirecTV brand (acquired in July of last year for a sum of $49 billion). AT&T is planning to launch this trio of new video service options in the fourth quarter of this year.
AT&T is bringing back its unlimited data plan, but mobile users ought to know that it now comes with some new terms and conditions. For starters, the second biggest wireless carrier in the United States is essentially making its unlimited data plan available only to those who are subscribers of DIRECTV and U-Verse. One line of service is offered at a hundred bucks each month, with $40 for every extra line of service added. Those interested who are eligible can start availing of the unlimited data plan on Tuesday, January 12th of this year.
Verizon Wireless has just revealed recently that for the first time, subscribers of its FiOS TV service will now be able to stream their DVR recordings outside their homes, which means basically anywhere, as long as they make use of an existing web connection. On top of that, the biggest wireless carrier in the United States also took the opportunity to announce that subscribers will now be able to view all their live TV channels on any mobile device while inside their homes and on the FiOS network.
