The V20 smartphone, the soon to be unveiled device from tech giant LG, will claim the honor of being the first handset in the world to come with 32 bit Hi Fi Quad DAC (digital to analog converter) in order to create a far richer and better audio experience for mobile users. What makes Quad DAC so super? Well, it has the ability deliver sound likened to a live performance, that is, as long as the device that has it is paired with compatible wireless headphones. ESS Technology is the company the provides the Quad DAC audio tech, apart from supplying the 32 bit Hi Fi DAC in the V20’s predecessor, the LG V10.
Roughly a week ago, LG had announced that it will be unveiling its first ever Android Nougat powered mobile device, the LG V20, in the city of San Francisco in California on September 6th of this year. Apart from being the first Android Nougat LG device, the V20 is also looking to beat upcoming new Nexus handsets from Google in getting the newest version of the world’s most widely used mobile operating system. Like its predecessor the V10, the upcoming V20 is said to boast a twin screen set up as well as a dual selfie camera configuration.
LG has revealed that its newest flagship device, the upcoming LG V20 smartphone, will be launching in September later this year, and will be powered by Android 7.0 Nougat, which means it will hold the distinction of being the first mobile device to run on the latest version of Google’s Android mobile operating system.
Not only did T-Mobileannounce new additions to its Binge On and Music Freedom services this week, the third biggest wireless carrier in the United States also took the opportunity to unleash a new tablet rebate special offer (limited time offer only), as well as launch a new four line family plan deal.
After revealing that it is updating its Simply Prepaid plans by providing more fast data every month for its prepaid customers, T-Mobile now unveils a special offer for its postpaid subscribers. This time around, the third biggest wireless carrier in the United States presents its Half-Off Smartphone Event, wherein mobile users can purchase a handset and then get a second device with a 50 percent discount.
Just like other phone makers out there, LG too is feeling the effects of the global smartphone slump. As a matter of fact, the South Korean mobile giant has revealed that it has lost about $36.4 million in its mobile phone business during the last quarter of last year. Now compare that to the previous year’s numbers, wherein LG managed to post a profit in the amount of $56 million in the same period. Tough times for the company indeed, even if it did register a total shipment volume of $59.7 million units of mobile devices, a slight improvement from the 59.1 million units it shipped in 2014.
This year’s Mobile World Congress happens on the latter part of February in the beautiful city of Barcelona in Spain. Various phone makers are widely expected to unveil their newest smartphone offerings during this major mobile technology related event. One of them is LG, who many predict will announce its new flagship device, the G5 smartphone, which will most likely compete for attention against fellow South Korean phone maker Samsung’s own flagship device the Galaxy S7.
In light of the slowing down of sales of smartphones around the world during the last several quarters, various phone makers have taken to launching new handsets that come with cheaper prices but actually are feature heavy enough to compete with some if not most of the current flagship devices out in the market today. A perfect example of this is Motorola’s Moto G (3rd generation) device -- its price may be below two hundred bucks, but if one looks closely, the handset actually comes with nifty features and functionalities.
Things may be starting to brighten for Samsung, but for other Android phone makers out there, the struggles still continue. One of them is LG, which just revealed that for third quarter of this year, it posted a 37 percent drop in profits year over year, due to the lackluster sales of its smartphone division.
LG has officially introduced the V10, a new smartphone that features a second screen, and the Watch Urbane Second Edition, a new wearable device that can double as a cell phone. The South Korean phone maker had sent out invitations for this unveiling event earlier in September of this year. The LG V10 phablet is the first of a new line of Android devices from LG that sports a secondary, fully independent screen inset above its primary 5.7 inch display screen.
