What we know (almost for sure) is that on October 4th, Google is very, very likely to unveil new generation Pixel devices, which should neatly expand upon the Pixel and the Pixel XL released last year. Google has appeared to have launched a marketing campaign, by way of a landing page with the text “Thinking about changing phones? Stay tuned for more on October 4.” Obviously, Google would not want to reveal everything until the official unveiling event.
When it comes to virtual reality (VR) headsets for its Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8 Plus devices, Samsung itself already has a pretty decent offering with its Gear VR, even more so when taking into account the hordes of mobile apps and Oculus, as well as a new controller, that are compatible with the headset.
Via its official blog, Google has revealed the release date of its Daydream View virtual reality headset, and it will be this coming November 10th. The Daydream View VR headset will debut not only online in the Google Store, but also by way of various retail outlets in major mobile markets such as the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Germany, and Australia. There may be some variation when it comes to the exact pricing, and retail stores may vary depending on which country, but they generally include Verizon Wireless and Best Buy in the US, while in Canada and the UK, it will be Best Buy and Carphone Warehouse, respectively.
Along with the newPixel and Pixel XL smartphones, Google also took the opportunity to introduce a new virtual reality headset, the Daydream View, and it has a rather unique design -- its goggles are covered in fabric, which as explained by Clay Bavor, who heads VR projects at Google, is a direct result of working with clothing makers in designing the headset.
Alcatel is making its newest flagship device, the Idol 4S, available for preordering starting at 8 AM PT on July 15th of this year by way of the phone maker’s official website, for a price of $350 (retail at $400). When LG unveiled its newest flagship device, the LG G5, at the Mobile World Congress held in Barcelona, Spain in February early this year, the smartphone wowed the world with its cool, modular approach to mobile design. Basically, the LG G5’s flexible, modular design allows mobile users to swap out components and even upgrade parts by taking the battery out of the bottom and attaching a new accessory.
HTC may not have introduced a new flagship device during the recently concluded Mobile World Congress held in the city of Barcelona in Spain, but it has taken the opportunity to officially start welcoming preorders for the HTC Vive virtual reality (VR) headset. The Taiwanese mobile manufacturer is offering its Vive VR headset as a $799 bundle, which includes the headset itself, as well as a couple of wand controllers, a pair of room scale movement sensors, and a number of VR titles.
