While everybody was busy checking out the new iPhone and iPad Pro, new LG related developments were brewing this week. First off, the South Korean tech giant’s Watch Urbane LTE Second Edition wearable device is being brought back by major US wireless carrier AT&T.
LG has confirmed this week during the Mobile World Congress being held in the city of Barcelona in Spain that it has plans of bringing back its LG Watch Urbane LTE 2nd Edition in the later part of 2016, as explained by a spokesperson for the South Korean tech giant. Back in November of last year, it was reported that LG had stopped taking orders for its Urbane LTE 2nd Edition smartwatch, due to an unspecified issue concerning hardware components of the wearable device (it turned out to be issues with the smartwatch’s display screen).
LG has decided to stop the sales of its Urbane Second Edition smartwatch just over a week after the Android Wear powered wearable device hit store shelves across the United States. As explained by the South Korean mobile giant, the reason behind the cancellation of the rollout of its newest smartwatch was an unnamed issue concerning the hardware of the wearable device. As of now, the company has not announced when or if the Urbane Second Edition smartwatch will be sold again at a later date.
Mark this down as another win for Android users, especially those who own, or are planning to get, wearable devices, particularly those that are powered by the Android platform. Google has officially announced that it has finally added cellular connectivity to Android Wear, the operating system that the tech giant designed specifically for smartwatches and other wearable devices. This latest development from the company could finally pave the way for more smartwatches to function independently from the smartphones they are paired with.
LG has officially introduced the V10, a new smartphone that features a second screen, and the Watch Urbane Second Edition, a new wearable device that can double as a cell phone. The South Korean phone maker had sent out invitations for this unveiling event earlier in September of this year. The LG V10 phablet is the first of a new line of Android devices from LG that sports a secondary, fully independent screen inset above its primary 5.7 inch display screen.
