Both Sprint and Verizon have had MiFi portable WiFi hotspots (made by Novatel) for some time. AT&T now adds its version of the MiFi, carrying AT&T’s part number 2372. The AT&T MiFi 2372 uses the network’s 3G HSPA technology, which theoretically has download speeds up to 7.2 megabits per second (Mbps).
Wirefly took a closer look at the MiFi 2372, including examining it on camera and running it through an Internet data speed test. This wireless test was compared to the data spped of a WiFi router connected to Verizon’s FiOS fiber optic network. Although the AT&T MiFi 2372 turned in a significantly lower score than the FiOS/WiFi combination, the speed of AT&T’s MiFi is more than acceptable for Internet browsing and even YouTube video watching.
