We listed ZOMM — the wireless Bluetooth cell phone leash and a winner of CES 2010’s “The Best of Innovations” Award — as one of Wirefly’s highly anticipated mobile gadgets of this year’s conference. Naturally, we wanted to see the ZOMM in action up close and personal, and the ZOMM daughters were happy to oblige with a live demo that we just happened to catch on video for you.
ZOMM, brainchild of mother of three Laurie Penix (yes, hence the “ZOMM daughters”), will sound an audible alarm while also vibrating and flashing if your phone strays too far from the ZOMM or vice versa — thus making it a bit harder to misplace your cell phone. The keyring-attachable ZOMM will also alert you to incoming calls in much the same buzzing and blinking fashion, and you can take the call right on the built-in speakerphone. There’s also a panic button that, when held down, will connect with with emergency services.
While the ZOMM is a bit more substantial than it looks in pictures and will add a bit of bulk to your keyring, I think I might just end up picking one up whenever these poker chip-like gadgets hit the market.
