It’s a smartphone, it’s a tablet, it’s…the Dell Streak!  Streaking onto AT&T’s network Friday, Dell’s Android-powered entrant into the mobile market can most aptly be described as a tablet/smartphone hybrid that offers the standard Android phone fare along with 5 incredible inches of screen real-estate.

Dwarfing the likes the of even  the HTC EVO 4G (Sprint) and DROID X (Verizon Wireless), the Streak touts an impressive web browsing experience that approaches that of true tablets like Apple’s iPad.  Although still stuck on Android 1.6, the Streak is expected to get a serving of Android 2.2 Froyo– the latest version — in the coming months.

We were lucky enough to be able to spend some time with the Streak [video at right], and while we aren’t sure the Streak is right for everyone, we certainly understand the appeal of having a veritable tablet computer in your pocket (just be sure you’re not wearing your skinny jeans).

  • I was interested in purchasing this phone and was wondering when you were going to have it available for purchase. I am currently an at&t customer and would be upgrading so I was wondering also the price I would get for it. I would really appreciate any news. Thank you.
